Course overview

The Pg Diploma (PgDip) in Cyber Security & Intelligence forms Year Two of Sorinteq’s MSc pathway and is designed for students who have successfully completed a Year One specialist pathway and achieved a Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert).

Year Two moves learners from vocational capability into advanced academic and operational specialisation. Students are given the unique opportunity to design an academic learning pathway that best suits their current role, future ambitions, and operational requirements.

As the MSc is a research-led degree, the PgDip year focuses heavily on the development of specialist expertise and the preparation for Year Three dissertation-level research. Learners will begin to shape original research within their chosen field, developing both advanced professional knowledge and leading-edge operational understanding.

The programme begins with a shared foundation module in Introduction to Academic Study, ensuring all learners are fully prepared for postgraduate-level study regardless of previous academic experience.

Following completion of Module One, students select one of four advanced specialist pathways aligned to their operational focus: Pathway One – Artificial Intelligence & Cyber Reconnaissance Pathway Two – Human Intelligence Techniques in Advanced Cyber Operations Pathway Three – Digital Media Investigations Pathway Four – Technical Equipment Interference Operations

The PgDip culminates in the submission of a substantial research planning paper that must successfully pass the University Ethics Panel and form the foundation of the student’s Year Three MSc research project.
